Dwight Lyman Moody (February 5, 1837 - December 22, 1899), also known as D.L. Moody, was an American evangelist and publisher who founded the Moody Church, Northfield School and Mount Hermon School in Massachusetts (now the Northfield Mount Hermon School), the Moody Bible Institute and Moody Publishers.

I love to think about heaven and wonder what it will be like, so I was attracted to this book.First of all, there is a problem with the Kindle edition, which seems to affect the first chapter only. In the first chapter there are some embedded fonts. At the very beginning the font is very black and rather big, and you can't adjust it, then, at location 40, it switches into something that looks very much like a typewriter font. But by the second chapter, you can fix this by going to the TOC and then choosing Chapter 2. Then it becomes customizable.
As to the content of the book, it was very sweet. There are many lovely anecdotes of common people that he uses to help us understand his points. However, I didn't really learn anything new. If you know the Bible reasonably well, you already know that heaven is a place, people you know will be there, we'll have bodies, there is a book with your name on it, etc. Is there an actual book? D.L. Moody says there is. He is very literal. But I have to say, he does make those things seem wondrous. You can feel the heat in his passion. At the end of many sections, he ends with poetry, or lyrics to hymns that are simple and rhyming.
All of his arguments are based on scripture, and in most cases, he gives you the verses. He does little if any extrapolating, although he does say that we are with Christ the moment we die, and are not unconscious waiting until the end of the age, as some believe.
Remember, this book is old. Victoria was still Queen, as he mentions. But really, that's a part of its charm!

I read it slowly and purposefully. It was amazing. The second read, I outlined it for memory and sharing purposes. Was thankful to get a 1st edition.
It's a wonderful inspirational spiritual book. I was greatly blessed when I read it.

The book was very informative and written in an easy way to understand. I have recommended the book to several of my friends.
This is a great book written by one of our founding fathers , Its a clear, consice look at what the bible supports regarding heaven. Puts it in an easy to follow format yet full of actual bible verses. Lots of questions we all have heard or ask each other about heaven, and answers that support Gods word not theory.
I really enjoyed reading this book. Short, but extremely packed with a wealth of information. I will read it repeatedly I'm sure.
Mr Moody gives the reader the biblical truths concerning the goal of those who have planted their faith in Jesus Christ. I especially appropriated his many examples of believers as they approached their time for promotion to Glory. This would make wonderful reading for those who are elderly or ill. I found the book extremely encouraging and would recommend it to any believer who would like to have a teaching on the subject of Heaven .
